Well, the test knitting is done. I finished the mittens on Saturday. In a way, I kind of worked them two-at-a-time since I knitted to the thumb on both, put stitches on scrap yarn for both thumbs, knitted the hand for both, then did both thumbs. Here are some pictures from Friday, before the thumbs:

There are lots of reasons I enjoy test knitting, but mostly it’s being forced to try new things. For this job, I made my first mitten, my first tassel, and tried a new yarn (which I highly recommend, it was great to work with).
Also, now that I’m done with the test knitting, I’ve started on the next batch of baby knitting. Here is a progress report on the Alphabet Sweater I’m making for my new baby cousin:
Cute baby sweater! BTW, have you ever knitting the Baby Surprise Jacket? I’ve got a few friends with babies on the way and I was wondering if that’s a good quick project.

I haven’t, but I’ve been wanting to try it. I think it’s now available as a single pattern on Ravelry, so you don’t have to buy the whole book. You’ll have to let me know how it goes :)
